Annewil Hokken, a Communication & Arts student recently talked to us about how she first picked up her camera and have never since looked back. She is also a model herself and have a penchant for black and white portraitures.

Hi Annewil! Tell us a bit about yourself.
Hi! So my name is Annewil and I'm a 21 year model and Communication & Arts student from Amsterdam. I'm in love with photography, fashion, style, travelling, art and magazines.

When did you discover your passion for photography?
I've been always interested in art and fashion. My boyfriend is a photographer, so last year I started to try making photos myself with his stuff. I liked it so much that I bought a camera. After my first shoot all I wanted was to shoot more and more! I found out I've a passion and feeling for it. I love to create beautiful things.

Where do you get inspirations for your shoots?
Everything can be an inspiration for me. Colours, people, fashion, style, cities, cultures, but also magazines, models or other photographers.

What do you have to tell from your photos?
I don't have a specific message. I like to make woman in my photos most beautiful, stylish, feminine, iconic and fashionable.

What are your favourite tools to work with?
I'm working with the Canon 60D. But for me equipment isn't the most important part of photography. I think it's the way how you use it and what you see through the camera.

If you could only work with one colour, which one would it be, and why?
Hmm, this is a very difficult question. I like the contrast of black and white, it gives so much power to a picture. But if I had to choose for one colour, then would it be red. It's full of passion, feminine, power and love.

If given a chance, who would you want to collaborate with, and why?
I really really love the work of photographer Greg Kadel. It would be so amazing if I could be his assistant! Of course I want to develop my photography skills and then sometime I'll work for Vogue.

What would you do if you win a million dollars?
Wauw I'm always dreaming of this! Of course I know the answer: Then I'll travel across the whole world making beautiful pictures and meeting great people everywhere for the rest of my life.
