A Sneak Peek into Hermès Swinging Silk Party at Maison, Asian Heritage Row, Kuala Lumpur

The brand recently gave us an opportunity to be part of their Swinging Silk tour after such similar events in Kinema Club, Japan and Berkeley Church, Toronto. The ladies were downright immaculate, sporting the retro coiffed-fringe, red pout, and full-swing skirts apt for the 'swooshing' effect entailing a twist-and-twirl action. The boys themselves were clad in tuxedos, silk blazers, and some, vintage plaid shirts and matching suspenders.

And no, we have not forgotten about the silk scarves. It was all over the place (no pun intended) - a literal live fashion parade of 'Infinity Ways to Tie Your Hermès Scarf'. The boys wore their silk scarves mostly in the famous 'Cow-Boy Anneau' style while the girls had it in more combinations of a swinging 60s bandana, neck scarf (ala Petit Tour de Cou), and mini capes. The bold of course came pared down only in bare minimals and decidedly wore the scarf as a bare-back tunic. We especially fancy the silk scarf wrapped around the high ponytail.

We have all seen those wonderful vintage vanity tables and trunkstyle make-up case in movies and to our surprise was part of the Hermès event activity to glam everyone up further. Think winged-tip eyes and full red pout. Oooh la la.

And as the night rolled on with a swinging silk dance tutorial by the Hermès dancers themselves, the dance floor was a synchronous energy of rock-and-roll hype while some decided to adjourn to the temporary tattoo booth featuring famous local tattoo artists such as Pink Tattoos, Taco Joe and Julian Oh.

Serena C was the emcee for the night, flanked by Alison Lee (left), the General Manager of Hermès Retail, Malaysia.

We think it is safe to say that most of us went back feeling swell after the event.
