This week, we interview Frank Jackson who creates beautiful and mysterious still-life photos
Read on!

Hi Frank! Tell us a bit about yourself!
I like wind-up watches, fountain pens and cheap plastic cameras...but I’m not too fond of spiders(too many legs and eyes). AND I no longer try to buy every new camera and lens that keep showing up in the stores (can’t carry them all or use them all at the same time).

When did you discover a passion for photography?
Since I can’t sing or draw and I don’t have wings, I discovered it was very liberating to be able to photograph whatever was going on around me.

What are your favourite tools and equipment to work with?
I have film Leica M6, film Hasselblad, a digital Nikon and a Panasonic 4/3.
(I always have some kind of camera with me)

Film or digital?
Both. You should NOT be able to tell if a photograph was taken with a film or a digital camera. A photographic image should be captivating enough so you don’t even care what camera or equipment was used.

Where do you get your inspirations from?
Any kind light either natural or man-made.

The way light can fall on someone, some place or thing inspires me to create photographs, it’s all about the light.

What do you have to tell from your photos?
I document the active and static moments of places, people and things... everyday normal scenes that no one notices until they see it in a photograph.

If you could only work with one colour (besides black and white) which one would it be and why?
Green. There are so many different wonderful shades. Green is life (and most frogs too)

What would you do if you win a million dollars?
Money can’t make you happy. It just gives you more choices. Hopefully those choices won’t bring any unhappiness into your life.

I would travel much more, photograph, see friends and meet and make some
new friends, but right now I have everything I need and I am basically happy.
