Hi Heinz! Tell us a bit about yourself.
My name is Heinz Maier and I am 35 years old.
I currently work as plant operator in a factory and I live near Stuttgart.

When did you realize that you love photography?
I've discovered photography at the end of 2010. I am very curious and love experiment. I have not yet determined what type of photography I want to focus on, but I would love to try them all.

We love your photos of water droplets! Where did you get your inspiration from?
I got my inspirations from the German community on flickr.

The setup for your water droplets photography looks complicated! Where did you get your ideas for the setup from?
I photograph with a Canon EOS 7D and a Canon 100mm 2.8 IS L macro lens and I use several solenoid valves with a tool to control it. For the lights, I use 2x Speedlite 430EX II + 1x Speedlite 580EX II with color filters.

With the addition of guar gum has the viscosity of milk, it creates such beautiful shapes. Food colouring is added.

Which of your projects are you most proud of?
The one with the soap bubbles on the reflective surface.

If you could only work with one colour, which one would it be and why?
I like all colours as each colour evokes different emotions at different times of the day, be it water drops, paintings, I find them all wonderful.

What would you do if you win a million dollars?
I'd buy a bigger house to have more space for art and the family.
