We couldn't help but to feature Maya Beus when we first saw her work!

The Croatian fashion illustrator uses only very few colors and lines, but they have so much impact that you just have to sit up and take notice.

Someone give her a Vogue cover to draw on and publish it, please!

Read on for our interview with her.

1. Tell us a bit about yourself :D
Well am a fashion Illustrator and I live in Croatia, but feel as a Londoner at heart. I am a graphic designer during the day, but after that every waking second is spent on fashion and drawing.

2. Do you have any hidden talents?
My hidden talent is humor. If I wasn't doing this I believe I would be a decent stand up comic (although am sure bunch of people thinks this :-)). Anyway when am not working this is what I enjoy the most.

3. When did you start fashion illustration?
Not sure, but I was probably always doing it, just not all the time. I Am serious about it for the last few years, but I have been drawing since I was like 6. I remember when I was 9 and I begged my mother to by me Vogue. You wouldn't believe how happy I was, despite it being a German issue so I couldn't understand a word. Just looking at pictures was enough.

4. Where do you get your inspirations from?
Life. Everything I draw is pretty everyday stuff for an average girl/woman in most of the world. It's mostly stuff everyone can identify with, like shoes, hair, love, being overwhelmed by life, being happy, enjoying time with your friends.

5. Is there anyone you've dreamed of working with?
Oh, this is a long list, but definitely this would be doing a Vogue cover. When David Downton did that last summer I was so happy, as you rarely see an illustration on the cover, but oh so jealous as well. Also to be given a chance to do couture illustrations would be heaven.

6. Which of your illustrations is your all-time favourite?
It is this drawing I did a couple of years ago (pic below), when I just started to draw actively after a long time. It showed me how much I can progress and that there is definite potential in me despite all my lacking as an artist (every artist, apart from probably Damien Hirst, thinks like this :-))

7. Any upcoming projects or work that we should look forward to?
Oh there is so much I want to do. First am opening an Etsy shop as people ask me all the time where can they buy my stuff. Second is that I would really really love to do animations based on my illustrations, partly hand drawn partly digital. Video is the future so I think sooner I do this the better.

8. What would you do if you've won a million euros?
Same thing, except I wouldn't have my day job. :-) And travel much more. Would love to see Asia, as am inspired by it's cultural and spiritual concepts, which often make much more sense to me than the society I live in here.
