PHOTO OF THE DAY
4 JUNE 2010

The Wave in Coyote Buttes, Arizona is an amazing natural wonder — sandstone rock which has been formed by millions of years of erosion into a wave shape with stunning, multi-colored swirls of layered strata. It’s part of the Coyote Buttes, an area located in northern Arizona right on the Utah border and about 30 miles west of Page.

Hikers and photographers are anxious to visit The Wave due to its shape and amazing vibrant color however, access is extremely hard to come by. To preserve the formation, only 20 visitors are allowed access each day and permits are required.
