ACCESS Project is a public-based installation art which includes the usage of internet, computer, sound and lighting. With the technology provided for the installation, web users can track individuals in public places with a customized spotlight and acoustic audio system. The spotlight will follow the tracked individual (chosen by the web user) with the acoustic sound system (it projects audio which only the tracked individual can hear).

The individual who are being tracked are not aware of who is tracking them or why they are tracked; neither are they aware that they are the only persons who can hear the sound among the public. The tracker is also unaware that their actions trigger sound towards the target.

So what was the purpose of this installation?

The content of ACCESS calls for awareness of the implications of surveillance, detection, celebrity, and their impact on society.

This installation proves how individuals love to be in control of a situation; once given the power, it becomes an obsession of keeping the control. Although we are living in an era with rapid advancement of technology, it has come to a point where there are your actions are barely kept private.
